Holiday Festivities at Peninsula Town Center to Include

Tree Lighting, Military Recognition, Giveaways,

Carriage Rides, Parade, Santa and More

            Hampton, Va. – Peninsula Town Center (PTC) is shopping and entertainment central for the 2011 holiday season, starting the first Saturday in November.

Saturday, Nov. 5 Events

·      First Annual Tree Lighting and Military Luminary Recognition Ceremony at Town Square starting at 6pm.  A 50-foot tree will be adorned with a replica of the First Light Star, a tribute to the 403rd anniversary of America’s first recorded English Christmas during Captain John Smith’s visit to a Kecoughtan Indian village. Hampton historian John Quarstein will provide commentary and Fort Monroe Garrison Commander Col. Anthony D. Reyes will participate along with Hampton City Manager Mary Bunting, who will officially light the Christmas tree.

·      Following the tree lighting, a Military Luminary Recognition Ceremony will light up Town Square as a salute to special service members and military units.  Luminary dedications are free and available while supplies last at Town Square from 11 a.m – 5 p.m. that Saturday.

·      Community groups will provide musical entertainment, and free hot chocolate and apple cider will be served. Guests may register to win prizes, including a $1,000 PTC shopping spree (winners must be present for the drawings held at the end of the event). Additionally, any guest who presents $300 in same-day PTC store receipts at Guest Services will receive a free ticket to Cirque Du Soliel’s Quidam performance at the Hampton Coliseum on Dec. 7 – 11. While supplies last.

 Saturday, Nov. 19 Events

·      PTC will participate in the annual Coliseum Central Holiday Parade. Parade starts at 9:30am. As presenting sponsor, PTC will carry Santa Claus by horse & carriage, delivering him to Marys Park, where visits for the holiday season will begin and continue each Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 4 p.m. through Dec. 18.

·      Free Carriage Rides at PTC are available after the parade from 12 – 3 p.m., and special holiday musical performances are scheduled at Town Square from 2 – 5 p.m.  Visitors are encouraged to visit Guest Services, where they can register to win one of five golden rings through the “Five Golden Ring Giveaway” (promotion ends Dec. 18).

Black Friday (Nov. 25)

  • PTC stores will open at 6 a.m (with Macy’s and Target opening earlier  at 12am Midnight)
  • Free Bö Essentials Indulgence Gift Set (valued at $20 each) to the first 1,000 customers at PTC Guest Services. See center for details.

“We are excited to be establishing new holiday traditions for the community,” says Raymond Tripp, PTC General Manager. “PTC is finding new ways to involve the community and give back, and history has always been an important part of everything we do, so we are happy to be going back to our roots.”

            Throughout the holiday season, free hot chocolate will be served at Vincent’s Gourmet Italian Ice (Saturdays and Sundays), and special area performances will take place on Saturdays in December.  Please visit www.peninsulatowncenter.com for more details.

            These holiday festivities are happening as PTC welcomes four new stores in November – J. Jill, The Mole Hole, Sneakers and Teavana. A separate press release will be distributed with additional information about these stores, including expected opening dates.
