Accepting Nominations for Retailer of the Year

This Year's Theme: Thriving During Tough Economic Times

Norfolk, Va. – Retail Alliance is currently accepting nominations for its annual Retailer of the Year Award. Those interested in making a nomination can obtain a form by visiting www.retail-alliance.com and clicking on the Retailer of the Year logo. Nominations will be accepted through March 15, 2010.

            Nominees should show excellence in creativity, business acumen, retail success and ability to thrive in a tough economy. Judges will make the selection based on business growth, financial strength and stability, community involvement and other criteria.

            Last year, fifty-three retailers were finalists and ten were recognized, with Virginia Beach-based Taste Unlimited being named Retailer of the Year.

The other nine finalists were:

·         South Central Hampton Roads Retailer of the Year, Newsom’s Peanuts

·         Smith Mountain Lake Retailer of the Year, The General Store

·         Portsmouth Retailer of the Year, Ma Maison

·         Poquoson Retailer of the Year, Floral Fashions

·         Northern Peninsula Retailer of the Year, Country Bootlegger Dance Studio

·         Norfolk Retailer of the Year, Harbor Gallery

·         Newport News Retailer of the Year, Cozzy's Comedy Club

·         Hampton Retailer of the Year, C & J Carpet Sales and Installation

·         Chesapeake Retailer of the Year, Connie's Kids
