CBDA spawns CBDX

Virginia Beach, Va. – The Central Business District Association (CBDA) has introduced a new opportunity for young professionals in the Pembroke/Town Center area of Virginia Beach.  The self-proclaimed “CBDX” (named by its “Generation X” leaders and participants) is made up of professionals under the age of 40 who work for CBDA member companies.

The first CBDX meeting, held on June 4, attracted individuals representing over 20 major businesses from within the Central Business District.  The group established key objectives and formed an executive board. Top priorities include the support of existing CBDA goals, along with the development of programs to attract younger participants.  The CBDX plans to host unique events and will explore forming partnerships with non-profit organizations.

“Every generation is unique and has different interests,” says Alex Divaris of Divaris Real Estate, who played a vital role in the formation of this group and was elected President at the first meeting.  “We’ve been tasked to create something that will get young professionals excited about being involved, and we’re looking forward to doing just that.”

The CBDX was officially introduced at the 23rd Anniversary Luncheon of the CBDA on June 17, and the second CDBX meeting was held later that afternoon at Strayer University.

“These are the future business leaders of the Central Business District and the Hampton Roads community,” says Pearl Smith, Executive Director of the CBDA.  “Their involvement and support of the CBDA is essential for our continued prosperity.”

"From conception of Peninsula Town Center, our vision has been to become an integral part of our community. In an area so rich in history and extraordinary leadership, the Mary's Park dedication was a shining example of Joel Rubin's ability to brilliantly bring this vision to life."
