Peninsula Town Center Announces ‘Saturdays in the Square’
Free weekly summer entertainment series begins May 23
Hampton, Va. – From May 23 through September 5, Peninsula Town Center will host “Saturdays in the Square,” a series of free events within Town Square, the centerpiece of the 1-million square foot mixed-use development on Mercury Boulevard at I-64 in Hampton. All are free and open to the public.
The events will take place every Saturday from 12 – 4 p.m. and will feature live music and family entertainment, including musicians, jugglers and balloon artists.
The focal point of Town Square is its interactive “jumping” fountain where children can play during the hot summer months.
On May 23, “Saturdays in the Square” kicks off with a performance by the Mystic Fire Drum Ensemble, an energetic group of musicians who play hand drums, guitar, violin and flute. The members will also conduct a “mini workshop,” allowing children and adults to come on stage to try the drums themselves. The inaugural event will also feature “Wacky Chadd,” a juggler and pogo stunt performer.
“Our goal is to make this a gathering place for families and friends,” says Karen Smith, Marketing Director for Peninsula Town Center. “Whether you come to shop or just enjoy the fountain and weather, come see what’s here and what’s coming to the Town Center. It’s very exciting.”
Other “Saturdays in the Square” this summer will feature face painters, magicians, caricaturists, hula dancers, comedians, impersonators and local street performers.

"From conception of Peninsula Town Center, our vision has been to become an integral part of our community. In an area so rich in history and extraordinary leadership, the Mary's Park dedication was a shining example of Joel Rubin's ability to brilliantly bring this vision to life."
