Williamsburg/Suffolk, VA – To mark the grand opening of their third banking center in Williamsburg, TowneBank hosted a preview reception on Thursday evening, October 8, 2009.

During the event, TowneBank announced the endowment of a $200,000 Memorial Scholarship Fund for the College of William & Mary.  A scholarship will be awarded annually in memory of Alvin P. Anderson, a TowneBank Williamsburg, Peninsula, and Hampton Roads Board Member; a founding board member of Harbor Bank; a William & Mary and Marshall-Wythe School of Law alumnus; and a member of the William & Mary board of visitors.

Mr. Anderson’s wife, Betsy, along with representatives from the College of William & Mary and TowneBank, will select the annual recipient. “It is a great privilege to honor a man who has meant so much to our organization and community,” says TowneBank Williamsburg President Anne Conner.  Also, in recognition of his service and dedication to TowneBank, the board room at TowneBank Williamsburg will be named the Alvin P. Anderson board room.

Located in the new Quarterpath Crossing Shopping Center at the intersection of Route 199 and Quarterpath Road, TowneBank’s new 5,000-square-foot office will provide private banking style services to area residents, community groups, and businesses.  With four sit-down teller alcoves and four drive-through lanes, members will be treated to a warm and gracious TowneBank welcome.  The branch will officially open for business on October 13.
