The New Phone Books Are Here!

Okay…that might not seem like such a big deal, but for Rubin Communications Group (RCG), the new Verizon Phone Book is a real page-turner! That’s because RCG worked with Verizon to feature our branding campaign for HamptonRoads… America’s First Region…right on the front cover of each and every Yellow and White Pages phone book throughout Southeast Virginia.
It’s important to note that this was not the result of paid advertising. Verizon is to be applauded for thinking regionally, and that’s the kind of spirit we’d like to see in all of our corporate citizens, organizations and elected leaders.
During the past couple of years, Rubin Communications has worked with the Hampton Roads Partnership to encourage our citizens to think regionally, and collaborate to address the needs and challenges facing all of our collective communities. We believe that by building regional identity and cooperation, we foster economic growth and improve our quality of life. That begins with recognition of a common heritage.
It all began more than 400 years ago, when English settlers landed on the Atlantic coast at Virginia Beach and less than three weeks later, settled at Jamestown. Today those two sites still form the boundaries of the Hampton Roads region.
Branding is a tricky business, and it can take time. However, it’s gratifying to know that each and every time one of our fellow citizens picks up a phone book this year, he or she will be reminded that we are part of Hampton Roads…America’s First Region.
