D'Art Center

When Joel Rubin left full time news broadcasting in 1991 to start his first company, Rubin Lewis Media, he and partner Cathy Lewis celebrated  with a kick-off party at the d’Art Center in downtown Norfolk. So the center’s new home at Selden Arcade made the perfect backdrop for our staff photo shoot.

Visitors to d’Art Center — as well as pedestrians walking between Main and Plume streets — can watch 50 of Hampton Roads’ premier artists at work in their studios.  They include nationally known painters, sculptors, jewelers, glass artists, potters, calligraphers, mixed media artists, and photographers whose displayed work is available for purchase.

For those wanting their own hands-on experience with art, d’Art Center offers birthday parties, classes for children and adults, and specially tailored workshops in creative thinking, brainstorming, and team building.  The galleries and classrooms can also be rented for meetings, receptions, and other business events.
